The BD-20AC operates at a very high frequency in the MHz range, generating an electric field created around the electrode which is used for surface treating of polymers. Included are 3 electrodes to treat a variety of surfaces. The voltage is adjustable. The unit consists of a power control unit and a separate high voltage handle. What separates it from other models is that it generates an adjustable high voltage output of 10,000 to 45,000 volts at a high frequency of 4.5 MHz. The spring tip electrode is flexible to protect delicate glassware under test.

It uses a transformer inside to providing isolation from line voltage, and a line voltage filter to reduce interference with the power line while in use. Key Applications and Accessories:
The primary application is surface corona treating. Accessory electrodes included are the 12201 Spring Tip wire spring to treat cavities and inner diameters of tubes, 12801 1 in. Round Electrode to treat flat surfaces, and 13811 3 in. Field Effect Electrode to treat flat and curved surfaces.
My application requires bonding UHMW plastic with epoxy. Without surface treating this plastic, nothing sticks to it. After a few passes with this corona treater I noticed better adhesion by over 100%.
I have also noticed good results treating ABS plastic for bonding.
